2018 - PARENT INDUCTION

I thank all our parents who attended our 2018 Parent Induction Seminar. It was great to see everyone engaged in conversation. Our aim was to discuss our school policy/procedures. We had a successful day and had the chance to meet and greet our parents.

UPPER PRIMARY CAMP

Our Grades 4,5 and 6 students and staff attended camp at Grantville Lodge Phillip Island. Students were engaged in many fun activities and challenges. Students had the opportunity to build strong friendships and rapport with one another. All of our students and staff enjoyed their time at Phillip Island. Please see some of our highlights from our photos.

GRADE 3 PRIMARY CAMP

Our Grade 3s had their first camp experience this term at Sovereign Hill. Students were captivated with being taken back into the time of the Gold Rush. Students had the opportunity to engage in various activities and had a rich experience through the journey of storytelling.

CHOCOLATE DRIVE

An exceptional start to our Fundraising Campaign. This term we sold over 200 boxes of chocolate. We raised money towards our school technology. We are very proud to have parents and friends who support us through our Fundraising events. Our students are very happy with our new computers and iPads.

PAWS FOR READING- SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

In Term 1 we held the great Paws for Reading Book Fair in our school library We hope to raise awareness of the importance of reading. We had many students, teachers and parents visit our library to purchase books and stationery. Students had the opportunity to read a variety of books within library session times. We thank everyone who made a purchase and hope you enjoy your new books. Our Librarian Ms Hilal Kuyruk has also made new purchases for our school library through the Book Fair.

BETTER BUDDIES

We have begun our Better Buddies program. Students from Foundation and Grade 6 teams have been paired up. Our Grade 6s are a great role model and take great care of our Foundation students. We have engaged in many activities this Term: students completed an ‘All about me’ project to introduce themselves to their buddy; we held the Better Buddies picnic; and had many games and activities throughout the Term.

2018 PRIMARY SCHOOL CAPTAIN

We are proud to announce our 2018 Primary School Captain Kisaa Haider, Primary Vice School Captain Layan Chakik and Sports Captain Abdul El-Souki. We strongly believe that these three students are responsible and will do a tremendous job this year. If students have any concerns they can see any of our captains and they will help them out.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

This year the theme for International Women's Day 2018 campaign theme:

#PressforProgress

The World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away - there has never been a more important time to keep motivated and #PressforProgress

Whilst we are proud to say we do not have discrepancies between specific gender incomes here at Sirius College, we support the movement of gender parity for woman across the world.

Today is about celebrating women and hoping and planning for progress and change.

Like always, we have started off with a big bang. In Term 1 we have also hosted breakfasts for Grade 6 and Year 7 parents; we had our school photos taken; participated in Anti Bullying Week, Clean Up Australia Day and many more. We look forward to Term 2!

A friendly reminder that our Primary Assemblies are every even week throughout the term.

If parents would like to see me to have a chat, please do so at anytime

I have an open door policy.

Warmest Regards
Primary School Coordinator
Ms Ozlem Coskun
